Art Journal: Freedom from Your Inner Critic

Art Journal: Freedom from Your Inner Critic

Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough? Have those feelings made you shy away from doing something you really want to do?

In this TrueYou TV video (it’s another Art Journal!), I share my happy painting and the importance of allowing yourself the freedom to be you.

I am so thankful for the love and encouragement Lorn gave to me. Think of who is on your support team and serves as a cheerleader when you’re feeling self-critical. Reach out to them when you need that reminder of how great you are and that your gifts are needed in the world.

How do you release your self-criticism? Stop comparing yourself to other people. If you didn’t have anyone to compare yourself to, how would you know if you’re not attractive, talented, fit, educated, etc? You’d just be you.

Self-criticism isn’t real. It’s make-believe. It’s up to you to create a different, more loving story

This illustration in the music book makes me think of Lorn, who spent many years in the navy.

The corner of her dress didn’t show up in the video, but I think it’s so cute.

With gentleness and patience, release that self-criticism and give yourself the freedom to be YOU!

Sending you lots of love!
