Hi Friends!
Let me introduce you to my mom’s cat, Midnight. You may remember her from Cosmo Strikes Again. Right now (I’m happy to report) Cosmo and Midnight are getting along. Hopefully that good behavior will continue for a few weeks until we move into our new apartment. Anyhoo, I was sitting outside with my mom and my honey and decided to paint. Midnight was my overseer 🙂
I love how a painting takes shape over time. I always begin not knowing how it’s going to look. I just find a pretty color and get started. Then one color is layered over another, and eventually I step back and have a painting.
It’s just like following the voice of your Spirit. You don’t know what the finished picture will look like. You just have to go with the flow and follow your intuition. And then one day you look back and say, “Wow. That decision I made that seemed so crazy and scary at the time actually worked out!” Making art without a lot of planning is a great way to practice trusting your intuition. It always works out in the end.
When I painted this, I was feeling so grateful. I have been missing my mom so much the past several months in Florida, and now I’m back home. I love my mom so much. She is my hero. She is my best friend. I’ve watched her work so hard my entire life. She raised my brother and me by herself while working full-time and going to school full-time. My contribution was pushing her eyelids open and asking her about her nail polish during those golden times when she was trying to take a little nap. I don’t know how I survived my childhood 😉
Lots of love to you!
Melanie Jade 🙂
