You know those moments when you need some rest but there are so many things you still want to do? Sometimes we push and push and push ourselves to exhaustion. Where does that lead us? We get irritated, everything looks gloomier than it is, and there’s no way we can hear the voice of reason or the voice of our Spirit. This happened to Mark and me yesterday. We were so busy exploring that we didn’t listen to our body telling us it was time to stop. Finally, we reached our limit and could go no further. Completely exhausted and really irritable, we fnally checked into a hotel in the middle of the day and just rested.
It’s so important to take time to recharge and renew. Listen to your body and pay attention to its signals. There will always be work to do, errands to run, and people to contact. It can all wait a few hours or another day (or even longer) while you take care of yourself. Take a moment to notice how your body feels right now. What is your body telling you?
Today I hope you make time for yourself and your need for rest. And now…I’m going to sleep!
