The Myth of Getting It All Done

Our first week in Mexico, my husband Mark and I were the most relaxed we’d been in a looong time. We’d just embarked on a new adventure, we were taking time off work, we hardly spent time at our computers, and we spent our days meandering around our new home city of Guanajuato, fascinated by the new sights and sounds.

Then we switched gears to find a home, get our internet set up, learn where to do our laundry and shop, and figure out the details of daily life. I love our new home and the adventure we’re on, but I’ve realized that I have some of the same concerns that I did when I was back in Texas. Life is still life, even in a different country.

A few days this week I found myself feeling stressed about not getting enough done. It didn’t seem to matter how much I accomplished each day, there was always more to do. I was going in circles thinking things like this: “I have to make dinner soon, but before I can make dinner, I need to go to the store, and I don’t have time to go to the store because I have work to do, but I can’t do my work yet because I’m starving…” Going in circles until I didn’t want to do anything!

Have you ever felt like that?

I don’t like feeling stressed, so I asked my Spirit Guides for help. Hear the guidance they offered in this week’s video!

Sometimes just thinking of all you have to do can make you feel rushed or stressed, and then the amount of joy you feel tends to decrease (that’s a nice way of saying you become a raging crazy wacko). When I start doing this, my Guides tell me to forget about my long list and just focus on one thing at a time.

This week, remember that there is time for you. Don’t wait for everything to get done before you take care of yourself because it will never all be done. Take care of yourself first, focus on one thing at a time, and remember to have fun along the way!
